Hey Illini Fans,

After going 2-1 against Iowa last weekend, we have brought out Big Ten record to .500 at 3-3. Winning a back-and-forth game on Sunday was important in keeping us in the conference race. This week we are playing the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Mich., for our second conference road series. Their football spring game is Saturday and last time we were here, the spring football game led to a large crowd at the baseball game. Next week is Illinois' spring game, so hopefully that will mean a large crowd at Illinois Field next Saturday when we host league-leading Michigan State.

With Major League Baseball getting started the past couple of weeks, it is time for guys on the team to start cheering their favorite teams. A lot of the guys on the team are White Sox fans and I have never seen a group more excited over a 7-5 team. There are an unusually low number of Cubs fans on the team this year, but with their history, I really can't blame them. Then there's Matt Dittman. He's a Yankees fan and just as obnoxious about them as you would expect from that fan base. As for myself, I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan. I hate to say it, but I feel like we're in for a long year this year.

As Big Ten play continues, these series get more important each week. We will need to keep winning games every weekend in order to keep pace in the conference race. We need to keep the pressure on the teams and front of us and make a run to the top of the standings.

If anyone has any questions or things that you want me to write about send me an email at illinidiamondnotes@gmail.com

That's all for this week, Go Illini!
