Illinois Heads to Illinois State
Illinois will travel to Normal, Ill., on Tuesday to face Illinois State at 4 p.m. at Duffy Bass Field. This game was originally scheduled to be played in Champaign, but the two teams flipped home dates following inclement weather for the first game, which the Illini won 6-1 on March 26 in Champaign. UI has won the last three meetings with ISU and owns a 47-31 advantage in the all-time series. Freshman Cody Sedlock (1-1, 2.29 ERA) will start for the second time this season against Illinois State and square off with lefty Will Headean (1-1, 5.48 ERA)

Last Time Out
After Illinois extended its season-long winning streak to six with a 1-0 victory over Michigan in the opener, the Illini dropped the final two games in the series to the Wolverines, 17-9 and 4-2, respectively. UI pitched back-to-back 1-0 shutouts (at Northwestern, 4/6 and vs. Michigan, 4/11) for the first time since May 16, 1969, which was part of a doubleheader against Michigan State and the only other time it has been done. Starter Drasen Johnson and closer Tyler Jay combined for a 1-0 shutout in the first game, which gave the Illini their longest scoreless streak of the season at 25 innings. UI gave up gave up a season-high 17 runs and 23 hits in game two and had four runners picked off in the finale.

The Highland Park, Ill., native hit his first collegiate home run as part of a 3-for-3 day against Indiana State (3/18) and went a career-best 4-for-4 against Illinois State (3/26).

Sophomore Adam Walton is on a career-best and team-high 13-game hitting streak while leading Illinois with a .422 (19-of-45) average over the past 13 games. Walton is hitting .292 with a .338 slugging percentage and .372 on-base percentage.
