Hey Illini Fans,

We just got back from our Spring Break Trip in Winter Haven, Fla., late Wednesday night. After dropping our first game, we ripped off five straight wins to get our record back to .500. With six games in seven days, everyone on the team had a chance to help us win games.

Spring Trip is not all baseball for us, though. We got to stay in some really nice condos and the resort was fantastic. After the morning games, a lot of guys would go hang out by the pool. Also, since a lot of parents also went on the trip, some of the guys went into Orlando to experience the scene there. I was able to go to Universal Studios with my family on Saturday evening and had a great time. On our off day, most of the team went to the pool, but the storm that cancelled our game the day before really brought down the temperature, so we didn't have too great of weather.

Because our next game isn't until Tuesday, Coach Hartleb has given us a few days off. Our next practice isn't until Sunday afternoon, so most guys are taking advantage and making the trip home. It will be nice to spend a few days with my family in Teutopolis.

Next week, we start my favorite part of the season. We travel to Illinois State on Tuesday and return to Illinois Field for our home opener. Next Friday marks the opening of the Big Ten season with a home series against Penn State. Hopefully we will see everyone at the ballpark next week!

I'm also taking an idea from former blogger and current Western Kentucky baseball SID Michael Schroeder and have set up an e-mail address for Diamond Notes. If anyone has any questions or has anything you would like me to write about in the next week's edition, feel free to send them to illinidiamondnotes@gmail.com.

Go Illini!
