CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Hey Illini Fans,

We are hoping to build on our current two-game winning streak as we move to our first home series of the year. We feel that a lot of things are beginning to fall into place and that we can continue to improve throughout the season. After playing our first 16 games on the road, it's a relief to be playing at Illinois Field this weekend. We are lucky to have our turf field because in the past, this weekend would have been another trip to the warmer, drier weather in the south.

I mentioned last week that we were finally able to get into our new clubhouse this past week. I think speak for everyone on the team that it did not disappoint. The actual locker room area is much more spacious than the old locker room and features open wooden lockers. Also included in the room are two flat-screen televisions, an iPod dock and great sound system, and a large projector system that drops down from the ceiling. The players' lounge was also expanded and includes two more flat-screens, a Playstation 3 and a bunch of couches and comfortable chairs for players to utilize. Guys have been hanging out in there for hours after practice this week. I would have to say that our facilities are now in the upper echelon of college baseball.

I know it's going to be cold this weekend, but we hope to see a lot of people come out to our first three games at Illinois Field. Admission for all home games is free this year and this weekend, you'll be able to win free tickets to our game at Busch Stadium on Tuesday as well as pick up all the posters, schedule cards and schedule magnets that you want. I must say that the poster and magnet are pretty sweet this year.

If anyone has any questions or things that you want me to write about send me an email at illinidiamondnotes@gmail.com

That's all for this week, Go Illini!
