Donn Pall to Headline Hot Stove Banquet
Jan. 7, 2013
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The University of Illinois baseball team and the Fighting Illini Dugout Club will host the annual Hot Stove Banquet to kick off the 2013 season with former Chicago White Sox pitcher Donn Pall as the keynote speaker. Pall, who enjoyed a 10-year Major League career, will headline the banquet, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at the I Hotel and Conference Center, with cocktails at 4:15 p.m., and the banquet at 5 p.m.
Pall played for five different teams, including six years with the White Sox, three with the Florida Marlins and parts of the 1993 and 1994 seasons with the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. He compiled a career winning record with a 24-23 mark along with a 3.63 ERA. Pall was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1985 and a 23rd-round selection by the White Sox in the 1985 draft. He is one of five Illini pitchers to compile a perfect season, going 13-0 in 1985. That is the second-most wins ever by an Illini pitcher and his 2.18 ERA that year is fourth-best in a season by an Illinois hurler.
