    High School - Earned seven varsity letters at Waterloo: three each in baseball and football and one in basketball . . . Hit .381 in American Legion ball the summer after his senior season . . . A St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar-Athlete honoree . . . Was all-conference in football as senior as both a quarterback and defensive back . . . Was also the football team captain and MVP.
