2000: Allowed only one earned run and one hit in first two appearances this season ¥ Threw 1/3 of an inning against Clemson at the NCAA Regional ¥ Nonconference action included appearances against UTPA and Illinois State ¥ Was hampered by a shoulder injury that sidelined him through the middle of the season ¥ Threw three scoreless innings, allowing only three hits in comeback appearance against Illinois State ¥ Owned a team-low 1.80 ERA over five innings.
1999: Sophomore posted 9.90 ERA and 0-1 record in second season ¥ Highlights of year included scoreless outings against both Ohio State and Minnesota ¥ Appeared in 12 contests with one save ¥ Save came against Indiana: allowed only one run in three innings while striking out three in early nonconference match-up ¥ Pitched for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods League over the summer ¥ Posted a 7-5 record and was a league all-star • Led his team in K’s (69) and innings (75 2/3).
1998: Posted a 4.09 ERA in eight appearances ¥ Held nationally-ranked Miami hitless in one inning of work against the Hurricanes in first collegiate appearance ¥ Only Big Ten appearance came in relief against Iowa.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned seven letters at St. Charles: three in football and two in both baseball and hockey ¥ Compiled a 9-1 record with a 1.42 ERA along with 90 strikeouts in 65 innings his senior season ¥ Named to the Upstate 8 All-Conference and all-area teams as a senior ¥ Was also a special mention all-state selection ¥ A member of the '97 Upstate8 and Illinois Coaches Association All-Star Team ¥ Also a standout football player, he grabbed 47 catches for 647 yards and 10 touchdowns his senior year.
PERSONAL: Parents are Dave and Kathy Trayser ¥ Majoring in speech communications ¥ Plans to go into consulting or public relations ¥ Came to Illinois because of the good people and program in place ¥ Father played baseball at Illinois State where he won the national championship in 1969 ¥ Admires Michael Jordan for his desire, competitiveness and love for the game ¥ A two-year Human Relations Award winner in high school ¥ Involved in the D.A.R.E. Role Model and Peer Leadership groups ¥ Lists his parents as the biggest influence on his athletic career because of their support on and off the field.
