2000 Threw two innings in Big Ten debut in game one against Iowa, striking out one while not allowing any hits or runs ¥ Other Big Ten action included an appearance against Michigan State ¥ First collegiate start came agasint Jacksonville ¥ Got the loss against Jacksonville as Illinois was only able to come up with four runs on seven hits against the Dolphins ¥ Threw three scoreless outings, including stints at UTPA, Houston and Iowa ¥ Threw 7 2/3 innings in seven appearances.
PRIOR TO ILLINOIS: Transferred to Illinois from Olney Central College where he lettered for two years in baseball ¥ Went 10-3 with six saves in two years at Olney ¥ Earned all-region and academic all-region honors at Olney ¥ Played for the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League over the 1999 summer, posting a 3-2 record with a 5.53 ERA in 27 2/3 innings of work.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned letters in baseball, basketball, football and golf in high school ¥ Holds school record for three-point field goals in a season and career ¥ As a quarterback passed for 3,400 years and 31 touchdowns in two years ¥ A three-time all-conference selection in baseball ¥ Team won baseball conference championship in 1996 and '97.
PERSONAL: Parents are Denny and Sue Throneburg ¥ Majoring in sports management ¥ Father played basketball at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and is one of the most successful softball coaches in Illinois high school history ¥ Biggest thrill in sports is meeting numerous great people and the friendships ¥ Favorite athlete is Greg Maddux because of his drive toward perfection and his consistency ¥ Member of the National Honor Society and student council in high school ¥ Wants to get a job with a professional sports team after finishing school ¥ Parents most influenced his athletic career because they "put in any amount of time that I needed."
