2003 - Stepped into the role of staff ace at the beginning of the season and never let it go, posting a record of 3-6 with a 4.19 ERA Finished fourth in the Big Ten in innings pitched (56) and was seventh in the Big Ten in strikeouts (36), both in league play Recorded his first Big Ten win of the season against Michigan, a series in which Illinois won three out of four games Threw 7 1/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) while striking out five and walking two against the Wolverines Also won against Texas Pan American at the UTPA/Al Ogletree Classic, throwing seven shutout innings while allowing only five hits and two walks and striking out eight en route to Tournament MVP honors Enjoyed a strong Spring Trip, earning a non-conference win against Ohio State after throwing five complete innings against Ohio State while allowing six hits, three strikeouts and one run in a game Illinois won 4-1 in seven innings Led the team in strikeouts (51) and innings pitched (81) Threw for the Quincy Gems of the CICL over the summer, earning CICL Pitcher of the Week honors once.

High School - Earned six varsity letters at Dunlap: three each in baseball and football Recorded 356 career strikeouts, including 145 as a junior Holds seven individual school records A 2000 all-state, all-area and all-conference selection Earned all-area honors as a pitcher and third baseman as a senior Also all-conference as a junior Named to the all-tournament team at the 2000 state tournament Played in the McDonald's All-Star game as a sophomore, junior and senior, picking up the win on the mound in 2000 Was the starting pitcher in that game in 1999 while going 2-for-3 at the plate after closing the game and playing short in the 1998 contest.
