AT ILLINOIS
2004 Redshirt Junior: Made 10 appearances on the year, including first career start against Mississippi State • Enjoyed scoreless relief appearances against Mississippi State, Winthrop, Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois College, Indiana and MacMurray.
2003 Redshirt Sophomore: Led the Illini with a 1.59 ERA with one win against zero losses • First career win came against MacMurray • Worked two scoreless innings of relief against MacMurray for the win, striking out one without allowing a hit or a walk • Appeared in eight games, throwing 11 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs while striking out two • Posted an opponent's batting average against of only .136.
2002 Redshirt Freshman: Did not compete.
2001 Freshman: Redshirt season.
HIGH SCHOOL
Earned two varsity letters at Thornwood in both baseball and soccer • Named All-Conference as a pitcher and goalie as a senior • Played in the SICA East All-Star games in both baseball and soccer.
PERSONAL
Born Jan. 27, 1982 • Parents are Dan and Pam Paarlberg • Major is pre-dental • Lists biggest thrill in sports as every time he pitches • Favorite athlete is Curt Schilling • A member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society in high school and earned four academic letters at Thornwood • Plans to attend dental school after graduation • Would like to thank his parents and family for their constant support, especially his little brother Matthew for being the best batboy ever.
