    2002 ? Earned second-team All-Big Ten honors . . . Turned himself into one of the most formidable closers in the Big Ten Conference . . . Was second in the League lead in both saves (seven) and saves in Big Ten games (six) . . . Saved game one against Penn State with one inning of scoreless relief . . . Picked up his first victory while going 2 1/3 innings of relief against Michigan State in the nightcap of the Saturday doubleheader in a game Illinois came from behind to win . . . Pitched a season-high four innings of relief in game two against Northwestern . . . Closed out two of the Illinois? three games in the Minnesota series as he pitched three shutout innings . . . Earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors after saving three games in a single week, including two at Minnesota . . . Saved a game against Eastern Illinois after entering in the eighth with two runners on and no one out and pitched a shutout ninth to secure an Illinois victory to ensure a 5-4 Illinois win . . . Picked up his first two saves of the year in the Purdue series while pitching 3 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball over the weekend . . . Picked up another save in Big Ten play in Illinois? wild 12-11 series finale win over Michigan after throwing one inning of shutout baseball . . . Threw an inning of relief in the first game of the year against Texas Pan-American.

    2001 - Had eight appearances out of the bullpen . . . Won first career game against Northwestern after throwing two innings of scoreless relief . . . Allowed only one hit against the Wildcats that day while striking out a career-high three . . . Also had scoreless relief appearances against Troy State, Southern Illinois and Indiana . . . Threw 2 1/3 innings against Southern Illinois, striking out two and walking four.

    2000 - Made first collegiate appearance at home vs. Illinois State . . . Faced six batters in a game Illinois won, 13-8.

    1999 - Redshirt season.

    High School - Earned three varsity letters at Lyons: two in baseball and one in hockey . . . Was 9-3 as a senior with 91 K's in 71 2/3 innings . . . Senior season ERA was 1.17 . . . Recorded 24 consecutive scoreless innings as a junior . . . An all-conference and all-area pick as a junior and senior in baseball . . . Scored eight goals and had five assists in 15 games of hockey as a junior.

    Personal - Parents are Gene and Marcy Mazurek . . . Majoring in finance . . . Also considered Indiana, Purdue and Michigan . . . Chose Illinois because of its strong academic and athletic programs . . . Favorite athlete is Roger Clemens because he has been a consistently dominating pitcher throughout his career . . . Lists biggest thrill in sports as competing in the AAU National Baseball Tournament in Oklahoma City as a 16-year old . . . Plans on pursuing his MBA after graduation . . . Parents most influenced his athletic career because they motivated him to play baseball at a young age.
