2001 - Back-up catcher started 19 games, three at catcher and 16 as the designated hitter . . . Appeared in 31 games . . . Raised average 137 points over the last three weeks of the season . . . In that span hit .452 (14-for-31) with four doubles and a home run . . . Hit .232 with four doubles and a home run in 69 at bats . . . Enjoyed best game of his career against Purdue at the Big Ten Tournament, going 3-for-4 with two doubles . . . Followed that up with a 2-for-3, four RBI performance in the next game against Minnesota . . . Hit his first career home run against the Gophers at the tournament . . . Collected first career double against Indiana; hit .333 against the Hoosiers with two doubles . . . Got game-winning RBI with a run-scoring single in game three at Michigan . . .
