    2000: Collected a team-high seven hits at the Big Ten Tournament ? Hit .350 (7-20) at the tournament ? Went 3-for-4 in championship game at Big Ten Tournament ? Was 1-for-3 with an RBI single in first game against Penn State ? Tallied his first career grand slam in Illinois' 15-1 win vs. Iowa in game one of the series ? Collected a season-high four RBI in that game ? Led the team in March with five home runs ? Stole his first base of the season April 11th against ISU ? Committed only two errors in 64 games ? Had 14 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games ? Enjoyed a seven-game hitting streak March 22nd-March 29th ? Had three hits seven times and once collected three hits in three-consecutive games ? Scored a season-high four runs against UTPA ? Appeared in all 64 games while starting 58, all in left field ? Had four game-winning RBI, including two over four games at Michigan State ? Hit .277 in 42 games for the Harrisonburg, Va. Turks of the Valley League ? Named a South All-Star for the Valley League champs ? Collected six doubles and a home run with 17 RBI over the summer.

    1999: Played in 36 games and started 23 in the outfield ? Hit .292 with three doubles, four home runs and 13 RBI ? Biggest hit was three-run home run to tie game, 15-15, in eighth inning of 17-run comeback against Michigan State ? Hit .261 in 13 conference games, which included eight starts ? Collected career-high four hits in six at bats against Western Illinois ? Collected eight multi-hit games, including two in conference play ? Went 2-6 in nonconference match-up against Indiana with a double and a home run ? Home run proved to be game-winning RBI in 16-10 win over the Hoosiers ? Went 4-6 with three runs and three RBI in final two games at Northwestern while starting in the outfield ? Played for the Southern Minny Stars of the Northwoods League.

    1998: Collected five hits in six at bats on the season ? Reserve outfielder saw action in six games ? Was 3-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBI in career day against Greenville College ? Also had a multi-RBI (3) game against Western Illinois ? First collegiate hit came against Eastern Illinois on a single to right field.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Earned six letters at Lyons: four in football and two in baseball ? Selected in the 27th round of the 1997 amateur draft by the New York Yankees ? Established Lyons Township records in batting average (.568) and consecutive hits (15) during his senior season ? Earned West Suburban all-conference honors during his junior and senior seasons and was named all-state as a senior ? Selected to the all-tournament team while leading Lyons to a third-place finish at the 1996 Illinois State Tournament ? Participated in the 1997 Illinois Coaches Association All-State Game.

    PERSONAL: Parents are Bob and Pat Fischer ? Majoring in sports management ? Has dreamed about playing at Illinois for as long as he can remember ? Lists his biggest sports thrill as going to state in 1996 in baseball and taking third place ? Past jobs include working with autistic children at a park district ? Says his father was the biggest influence on his athletic career because "he gave me a glove when I started to walk" ? Fischer's grandfather, Ted Purvin, wrestled at Illinois in the 1940s and was his Fighting Illini hero while growing up ? Earned all-conference academic awards in football and baseball his senior year ? Hobbies include writing songs, music and playing sports.
