2004 Junior: Appeared in 12 games, making 10 starts A member of the Big Ten starting rotation all season Threw 57 innings, the fourth-most on the team Posted a team-best six wins against four losses Struck out a career-high 11 and allowed only one unearned run in a complete game start and win against Michigan State Won first start of the season against Western Kentucky after throwing eight shutout innings in a 10-0 Illinois win Picked up a win in relief at Indiana State after entering the game with the bases loaded and no one out in the seventh inning and getting out of the jam via a foul out, strikeout and ground out in a 6-5 game Struck out seven in starts against both North Carolina A&T and Penn State Missed starts against Michigan, Indiana and Iowa due to injury.
2003 Sophomore: Started a career-high six games, finishing with a record of 2-3 and a 5.70 ERA Threw well against Eastern Kentucky, working six innings and allowing one run on five hits, without walking a batter and striking out six to pick up a 9-3 win Threw 4 1/3 innings against Indiana University on the first weekend of conference play, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four in a no decision Other win came against IPFW when he went four innings while allowing four hits, one run and one strikeout in a game Illinois won 9-1 Pitched for Rochester, Minn., Honkers of the Northwoods League over the summer, earning a spot on the All-Star team and on the postseason All-Northwoods League team after posting a 7-1 record.
2002 Freshman: Threw a complete game seven inning shutout over Blackburn College for a 4-0 win in his first collegiate start Made his first Big Ten appearance during the doubleheader against Michigan Pitched five shutout innings in the Illini's 6-0 victory over Illinois College while striking out seven Struck out one of his two batters in 2/3 of an inning of relief in game one against Northwestern Picked up his first collegiate victory against Northeastern after throwing 2 1/3 innings Pitched a shutout inning of relief against Western Michigan Pitched three shutout innings against Western Illinois in relief while striking out four Played for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods League over the summer.
