Stephanie Record was named the University of Illinois Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach in September 1994. She cheered for the Illini from 1990-1993 and competed on the 7th ranked national team in 1993. Record is safety certified by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors. While at Illinois, Record has lead the team to six national rankings: 18th in 2006; 14th in 2003; 18th in in 2002; 19th in 2000; 13th in 1998; and 15th in 1996.

In addition to coaching, Record is also the Executive Director of Crisis Nursery. Since June 2008, Record has devoted her career to this local non-profit dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect among children birth through six. Record was recognized as a 2009 Emerging Leader in Social Work by the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and was named a 2009 Forty Under 40 Central Illinois Business award winner.

A native of Mattoon, Ill., Record earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Illinois in 1994, her master's in social work at Illinois in 2001, and her master's in educational administration in 2007. She is a licensed clinical social worker, has her school administrative certification and is a certified school social worker. She and her husband, Rush, have two children (Kennedy and Delaney) and reside in Champaign.
