CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini head coach Lovie Smith announced after practice Tuesday that senior QB Wes Lunt, senior LB Hardy Nickerson, senior DE Dawuane Smoot and senior center Joe Spencer have been voted team captains for the 2016 season. The captains were determined by a vote of Illini players and coaches. 

Illinois kicks off the 2016 season on Saturday when Murray State comes to Memorial Stadium (2:30 pm CT on BTN).
