CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Just 18 hours after wrapping up practice on Thursday evening, the Fighting Illini returned to action on Friday morning for another spirited two-hour and fifteen minute session on the grass practice fields just east of Memorial Stadium.
"Things are going well," defensive coordinator Hardy Nickerson said after the team's eighth training camp practice. "I think we're right on schedule. The guys are working hard and we're improving every day. As we go forward, I'm excited about the improvement we'll make and am looking forward to the first game of the season."
The Orange and Blue will return to action on Saturday night under the lights inside Memorial Stadium. Fans are welcome to come to Saturday night's practice, which runs from 7-9 p.m., and are asked to enter on through Gate 24 on the west side. All Training Camp practices are open to the public and free to attend from Aug. 4-20.
