Fighting Illini Football fans will start to see the new 2016 billboard and poster artwork popping up around Champaign-Urbana in the coming days.
@IlliniDesign is taking a new spin on the creative this season by showcasing student-athletes from above. "It's a concept we've talked about for the last few months", said Eddie Diazmuñoz, Creative Director for the Fighting Illini. "The imagery turned out even better than anticipated and I believe our fans are really going to enjoy this side of our design process."
There are many different versions of the 2016 schedule poster with a different student-athlete on each one. The Illini featured are QB Wes Lunt, DE Dawuane Smoot, DT Chunky Clements, RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn, and Head Coach Lovie Smith.
Fans can get the full-sized poster starting July 1 in the reception foyer at the Bielfeldt Athletic Administration building (1700 S. Fourth Street, Champaign), or at several Champaign area businesses in the coming weeks. Fans also will be able to get a poster online for free starting July 1, though each order will have a $3 shipping charge.
Digital downloads for desktops, mobile devices and social media channels can be found here.
The billboards, which are in several locations across Champaign-Urbana, feature Lunt, Smoot, Clements and Vaughn, plus DB Taylor Barton and WRs Justin Hardee and Malik Tuner.
Fans will see these in several locations across Champaign county.
The Fighting Illini begin the 2016 season against Murray State on Saturday, Sept. 3, before hosting North Carolina on Sept. 10 in primetime (6:30 pm CT on BT). Season tickets start at only $99 and are on sale now online or by calling 1-866-ILLINI-1. Limited $99 seats are still available in the Horseshoe seating area in the south endzone.
Mini plan packages also are on sale now, while single-game tickets go on sale June 23. There are two mini plan options available for fans who cannot commit to the entire season – a 3-game pack for $70 (North Carolina, Homecoming against Minnesota, and Dad's Day against Michigan State) and a 2-game pack for $50 (Minnesota and Michigan State).
