Champaign, Ill. - Fighting Illini women's basketball and head coach Matt Bollant announce the addition of Peca Holešínská to the Illinois women's basketball family. A native of Vracov, Czech Republic, Holešínská will join the Illini for the 2016-17 season.

"Peca is a phenomenal shooter, one of the best in the world," Bollant said of the 5'9" guard. "I saw her play two years ago in the Czech Republic and was really impressed. She is a highly skilled player and I believe she will be an impact player for the Illini."
"Becoming a member of the Illini family is like a dream come true for me," Holešínská said. "I've always wanted to study and play basketball in the United States, and coming to Illinois is a big opportunity. I'm ready for this challenge and I can't wait to be with all these great players and coaches."
Holešínská is a veteran player for the Czech Republic national team as she has helped the team to three national championship titles and a second place finish at the European Champion's Cup. She helped the Czech Republic to a gold medal at the U17 World Championships in 2014 and was named MVP of the national team. Holešínská averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in the Czech Republic women's second division and will attend national team camps for the European Championship this summer. Holešínská plans to study marketing and international business while at the University of Illinois.
