Hello Illini fans!
We had so much fun competing at the Jim West Challenge in Boerne, Texas, back in October! On the first day, we had our practice round and then attended the tournament welcome dinner and party where we received some amazing gifts. As we made our way to our table, we were surprised by a huge Illini cake sitting in the center of the table. After we got our dinner, we wasted no more time in diving into that cake! As if that wasn't enough, we also got GoPro cameras! Following this, the party started, which also featured a performance from a fantastic band. I couldn't have asked for a better day to celebrate my birthday too!
The next day marked the beginning of the Jim West Challenge. We started off the tournament in 11th place out of 13 teams. We came back the next day with a 293 total, 11 strokes better than our score the first day! After our comeback the second day, we finished the tournament at 12th place. Although this was not our best performance, everyone learned something about their game and it was a great experience for all of us.
As a freshman, this tournament was the third tournament in my college career. I was really learning a lot about being part of a team, for I had played golf as an individual for the majority of my life. I love being part of this team, it feels very much like family and we are always there to support one another.
Until next time!
I-L-L!
