On the eve of University of Illinois classes starting, the Fighting Illini had a fun day welcoming new students to campus. First the Illini made a showing at Quad Day, interacting with students in the heart of campus, then it was a student practice at Memorial Stadium with the players running drills with the Block I student section and UIUC student body.
For the two events, the Fighting Illini broke out the new NIke blue uniforms for the first time. In 2014, following an 18-month rebranding process, the Fighting Illini wore new orange, white and gray ghost uniforms, but this year will mark the first year with the new blue uniforms and pants. Sunday marked the debut of the navy jerseys.
Monday will be an off day for the Orange and Blue as classes start. Practices will resume for the Illini on Tuesday afternoon.
