Champaign, Ill.–Fighting Illini redshirt senior guard Tracy Abrams (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel H.S.) will miss the 2015-16 season after suffering a torn left Achilles tendon on Monday during practice for Illinois' Aug. 9-19 European trip. His surgery has yet to be scheduled. 

"First of all, my heart goes out to Tracy," head coach John Groce said. "He went through so much the last 10 months fighting back from a torn ACL to return to the court this summer in preparation for the upcoming season. So this is obviously a very difficult time for him right now. But I've said it before that Tracy has the heart of a champion, and I know that he will handle this latest setback with the same courage and resolve in making a full recovery."

Tracy doesnt deserve this. Thats the toughest dude I know. His perseverance thru all of this has been absolutely inspiring. One of a kind.

Sorry to hear about your injury my brother. I was really looking forward seeing you leading that team to the tournament this season. We had that talk a few months ago in Vegas how well you were doing in workouts. Stay positive little bro & hopefully you can come back this season. You in my prayers ????
