Rosemont, Ill. - Fighting Illini Men's Golfers Charlie Danielson and Thomas Detry have been named Big Ten Co-Golfers of the Week, as announced by the league office on Thursday, Nov. 5. The two seniors helped the No. 2-ranked Illini to their fourth title of the fall season, as the team captured the inaugural East Lake Cup trophy on Tuesday, Nov. 3. 

Both Danielson and Detry earned two points for UI at the East Lake Golf Club this week, with Detry posting a 1-up victory over Justin Suh of USC in the semifinal round. Danielson topped USC's Rico Hoey, 1-up as well, lifting the Illini over USC, 4-1-0. 

Detry earned the Orange and Blue's first point of the finals match as he defeated Georgia's Sepp Straka 4 & 3. Danielson topped UGA's Jaime Lopez Rivolara 3 & 2 as well, giving the Illini a 3.5-1.5 win over Georgia. 

The weekly award marks the fifth for Danielson in his career and the second this season. It is the first for Detry this season and the ninth of his career.
