Frequently Asked Questions

What is the financial goal of the I FUND?

The I FUND provides the resources to develop our student-athletes for excellence academically, competitively and socially. Our goal is to double our number of donors and money raised by 2020. To do that, we will need 15,000 donors providing $15 million annually for scholarships by 2020.

Where does this money go?

The money you donate to the I FUND is used to pay the scholarship and academic support costs for our 500+ student-athletes. With the cost of attending the University of Illinois increasing every year, it is important we continue to increase I FUND donations annually. Last year the scholarship and academic support costs exceeded I FUND donations by almost $3 million. Our goal is to make up that gap by 2020. Every gift, no matter the size, is important to reach that goal.

Why should I donate to support Illinois student-athletes?

Illinois student-athletes are an investment in our future. Today, donors want to invest and support people, projects and priorities which achieve excellence and make a difference in our world. Today's Illinois student-athletes have an average 3.23 GPA; achieve a 90% GSR (Graduation Success Rate); rank among the nation's best with Top Tier Team APR (Academic Progress Rates); give back to society by averaging 14 annual hours of community service; compete at the highest level of NCAA competition; are a point of pride having won 241 Big Ten Championships and counting (2nd in the Big Ten Conference); rank #1 among Big Ten Conference public institutions in many NCAA academic categories; graduate from one of the top 15 preeminent public universities in the nation; and will transform lives and serve society as productive citizens and professionals.

MEMBERSHIP LEVELS

Why are you making adjustments to the I FUND club levels?

The I FUND levels have stayed the same for 20 years. The original Loyalty Circle level of $10,000 covered an in-state scholarship when it started 20 years ago. Scholarship costs have increased dramatically since that time. We have increased the highest Loyalty Circle levels to more accurately reflect the current costs of providing full scholarships to our student-athletes. We're also offering a $50 level to make the I FUND accessible to more people.

Why are you doing this now?

By introducing the new club levels now, we are giving donors a full year to determine their desired giving levels prior to reallocating seats in State Farm Center in 2015.

How do our club levels compare to other Big Ten schools and with top programs nationwide?

Prior to introducing these new club levels, the highest I FUND club level ($10,000) was the lowest in the Big Ten Conference. With these new levels, we are in line with the top schools in the Big Ten Conference and nationwide.

At the Illini Nation level, can I get priority ticket and parking benefits?

No. Priority ticket and parking benefits are available to I FUND donors at the Captains Club level and above.

How do I get into the Hall of Fame level?

The Hall of Fame is for donors who have given at least $500,000 to the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in their lifetime while maintaining an active I FUND account of Loyalty Circle Bronze ($10,000) or higher. The goal is for the Hall of Fame to consist of roughly the top 1% of I FUND donors. The Office of Athletic Development reserves the right to change the qualifications for the Hall of Fame in future years to keep the membership at the top 1%.

TICKET/PARKING ALLOCATION

If I lower my club level now, will my tickets at Memorial Stadium and State Farm Center be affected?

Ticket locations are influenced by your annual I FUND club level. If you lower your club level now, your seat location may be changed to an area of the stadium or arena that accurately reflects your current club level.

If I increase my club level now, will my tickets at Memorial Stadium and State Farm Center be affected?

Ticket locations are influenced by your annual I FUND club level. If you increase your club level now, your ticket location may be upgraded to an area of the stadium or arena that accurately reflects your current club level (based on availability).

As a Loyalty Circle donor, will I still be allocated at first priority?

Loyalty Circle donors will still be prioritized first, but there are now multiple levels within the Loyalty Circle. Loyalty Circle donors with at least $500,000 in lifetime giving to the I FUND will be allocated first, followed in order by Loyalty Circle Platinum ($50,000), Gold ($30,000), Silver ($15,000) and Bronze ($10,000).

I've endowed an I FUND scholarship. What does this mean for me?

Endowment donors who have fulfilled their endowments or are on schedule to fulfill their endowments will be allocated according to their specific club level. Please contact Carrie Ummel at 217.333.6595 to discuss your account and the ways to positively impact your seating allocation with additional gifts to the I FUND.

I've been a longtime donor and season ticketholder. How is my loyalty being rewarded?

Your loyal support is an important part of how we allocate tickets. The method of allocating tickets has not changed. Donors are ranked first by their current I FUND club level and then are ranked within their I FUND club level by priority points. All non-donors are prioritized according to their priority points and allocated after the Captains Club donors. Priority points are earned by your lifetime donations to the I FUND and your years of consecutive season ticketholder status for football and men's basketball. How does my I FUND gift affect my parking for football and men's basketball?

The method of allocating parking is similar to the allocation method for tickets described in the question/answer above and has not changed. Donors are ranked first by their current I FUND club level and then are ranked within their I FUND club level by priority points. Please note - for men's basketball you must be a season ticketholder and I FUND donor to receive a season parking pass.
