Leonard (Lenny) Willis has been the director of facilities for the Illinois athletic department since 1999. He also served as an event manager for baseball and soccer and an assistant compliance director in 1997. Prior to his administrative roles, Willis served as the director of football operations from 1995-97. In addition, Willis coached at the collegiate level, making stops at Ohio State, Boston College, Colorado State and Illinois. Willis played professional football with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills. A native of Washington, D.C., Willis earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio State. He has three grown sons (Lenny and Jacob, both Illinois football letterwinners, and Justin, who was drafted by the Atlanta Braves). He and his wife, Arlette, a University of Illinois professor, reside in Champaign.
