Matt Wille is in his first year as an Assistant Sports Information Director and seventh year overall at Illinois after joining the Sports Information Office in 2006. Starting in January 2013, he serves as the primary media contact for the baseball and soccer teams. His primary duties include coordinating media efforts for his assigned sports, producing record books, game programs, and other DIA publications, maintaining statistics and records on UI student-athletes and staff, writing press releases and feature stories and updating online content for fightingillini.com.
Beginning as a freshman, he worked for three years as a student assistant in the Sports Information Office before serving as an intern during his senior year to complete his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois in 2010. The Peoria, Ill., native then worked two years as a graduate assistant and completed his master's degree in sport management in 2012. Following graduation, Wille went to work for STATS LLC in Northbrook, Ill., before returning to the DIA in 2013.
