Matt Wille is in his third year as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and ninth year overall at Illinois after joining the Athletic Communications Office in 2006. Beginning in January 2013, he became the primary media contact for the Fighting Illini baseball and soccer teams. He also edits the football game programs, provides statistical and game day support for men's basketball and oversees academic awards.

His primary duties include coordinating media efforts and updating social media accounts for his assigned sports, producing record books, game programs, and other DIA publications, maintaining statistics and records on UI student-athletes and staff, writing press releases and feature stories and updating online content for fightingillini.com.

Beginning as a freshman, he worked for three years as a student assistant in the Athletic Communications Office before serving as an intern during his senior year to complete his undergraduate degree in sport management at the University of Illinois in 2010. The Peoria, Ill., native continued to work as a graduate assistant in Athletic Communications for two years and completed his master's degree in sport management in 2012. Following graduation, Wille went to work for STATS LLC in Northbrook, Ill., before returning to the DIA in 2013.

Wille previously served as the sports information contact for Fighting Illini men's golf (2011-12), women's golf (2007-09, 11-12), women's gymnastics (2009-12), men's and women's cross country and track & field (2009-11) along with assisting with women's volleyball (2008-12).

He has covered three individual national champions - Angela Bizzarri (cross country, 2009; indoor 3,000m, 2010), Andrew Riley (outdoor 110mH, 2010) and Thomas Pieters (golf, 2012) - one Big Ten championship team (men's golf, 2012) and assisted with the volleyball team's national runner-up finish in 2011. He also coordinated media efforts when Illinois hosted the 2011 Big Ten Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, the 2012 Women's Gymnastics NCAA Champaign Regional and 2013 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament.
