Illini Family Pitches In for Illinois Marathon

Numerous DIA Staff Members Participate, Volunteer on Race Day

Katie McKinney has recently transitioned into her new role as a Team Sports Dietitian. Prior to this move, she served as the Director of the Varsity Room for three years, designing the menu and overseeing all operations of Illini training table meals. With her transition, she was able to play a key role in helping initiate the new Illini Fuel program to fuel all University of Illinois student athletes. As a graduate of Illinois she is a true Illini supporter and is very passionate about educating athletes on proper fueling to help them perform at their best.

The Mahomet, Illinois, native is a 2001 graduate of the University of Illinois, where she earned a B.S in Dietetics. She also earned her Master's Degree in Dietetics from Eastern Illinois University in 2003.

Katie brings a wide range of nutrition experience and knowledge to her position with Illinois. Prior to her return to campus, she served as a Clinical Dietitian for Carle Foundation Hospital for two years and as a Corporate Dietitian for Petersen Health Care for five years.

Katie currently works with men's and women's track and field, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's golf teams. McKinney is a registered dietitian and board certified specialist in sports dietetics. Katie and her 2 daughters live in Mahomet.
