Academic Counselor - Football

Katie Christensen serves as one of two academic counselors for the Illinois Football team. She works primarily with the defense and specialists, as well as serving as the GradesFirst liaison for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Christensen came to Illinois in June of 2013 after a yearlong stint as an assistant academic coordinator for football at the University of Wyoming. While at Wyoming, she worked with the freshmen and transfer football student-athletes, as well as working alongside the tutor coordinator handling the day-to-day operations of Wyoming's tutor program. Prior to her time at Wyoming, she was an intern with Student-Athlete Services at Central Michigan University for two years.

A native of Lakeview, Michigan, Christensen was a member and captain of the Central Michigan University Women's Track and Field team from 2006-2011. She earned her Bachelors of Applied Arts in Sports Studies and Psychology as well as her Master of Arts in Sport Administration from CMU.
