Kristin Kane was named the University of Illinois Director of Academic Services in June of 2011. She began her career in the Illinois Academic Services office in the fall of 1999 as a graduate assistant in the department, after spending her first year on campus as a teaching assistant in the department of Kinesiology. She then worked as an intern in academics for a year before being hired full time in the fall of 2001. Kane spent two years as an academic counselor for men's/women's gymnastics, men's/women's track and field/cross country, and softball in addition to being in charge of the study hall and tutor programs for the department. She then moved over to the football program in the fall of 2003, where she spent eight years as a counselor for the team.
A native of Aurora, IL, Kane earned her bachelor's degree with majors in sociology and physical education from Loras College (Dubuque, IA) in 1998. She earned an MS in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois in 2001.
