Hope Howell is in her 2nd year at the University of Illinois, serving as the academic counselor for the women's basketball, men's cross country, men's track and field, and wrestling programs.

Prior to joining the Illini staff, Howell completed a learning specialist internship at Ohio University's Department of NCAA Eligibility and Student-Athlete Success. In this position, she served as the secondary contact for women's golf, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, and wrestling programs while also assisting with football student-athletes.

A native of Lithonia, Ga., Howell holds a bachelor's degree in News-Editorial Journalism from Illinois, where she was also a member of the softball team from 2006 - 2010. After graduation, Howell worked as a Student-Athlete Learning Mentor at the University of Georgia before earning a fellowship with Lipscomb University's Andrews Institute of Civic Leadership in Nashville, TN. During her fellowship, she assisted in Institute research publications and received a Master of Arts Degree in Civic Leadership in 2012.
