    Michael Gilligan
    Position:
    Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

    Michael Gilligan is entering his first year at the University of Illinois as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. At Illinois, Gilligan will oversee the athletic development of the Illini baseball, softball, and women's swimming and diving teams.

    Prior to the University of Illinois, Gilligan spent two years as a Graduate Assistant Sports Performance Coach at Northwestern University where he worked with several different sports. While at Northwestern, he pursued his master's degree in Sports Administration and is currently finishing his thesis. In 2010, Gilligan received his bachelor's degree in Health Promotions with an emphasis in Exercise and Health from Oklahoma State University.

    A native of Chicago, Ill., Gilligan holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USA Weightlifting as a Certified Sports Performance Coach, and is also an FMS Certified Exercise Professional.
