Alexis "Lexi" Fink was named Division of Intercollegiate Athletics Compliance Analyst in July, 2010. Fink's primary duties include monitoring all aspects of compliance related to recruiting, playing and practice seasons, expenditures made by sport programs involving current and prospective student-athletes, and team travel for 19 varsity sports. This includes approving coaches' travel and collecting, analyzing and auditing the recruiting contact and evaluation forms required of all coaches on a weekly basis, monitoring and coordinating all aspects of official and unofficial visits, reviewing spending in conjunction with visits, and auditing telephone records.
Before joining the University of Illinois, Fink was an intern at the NCAA in the department of Academic and Membership Affairs. During her year at the NCAA, Fink was a member of the Legislative Relief Team and College Academic Team. As such, Fink was responsible for processing Legislative Relief (SLR/CLR) waivers, Progress-Toward-Degree (PTD) waivers and Academic Progress Rate (APR) adjustment waivers. Fink was also responsible for providing interpretations of the legislation for Divisions I, II and III to NCAA member institutions, conferences and the public.
Prior to joining the NCAA as an intern, Fink attended the University of St. Thomas School of Law. While attending St. Thomas she was the chairperson of the Entertainment, Media and Sports Law Society and worked as an intern in the University of Minnesota Athletics Compliance Office. During her internship, Fink had a number of responsibilities, some of which included, assisting with day to day compliance issues, developing the monthly newsletter, and planning educational sessions for the student-athletes, coaches and staff.
Fink completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Mathematics (Statistics). While at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Fink was a Scholar Athlete as a member of the women's swim team where she competed in the (WIAC) Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and received high accolades as a swimmer. She was a nine time NCAA All American and was named first team all conference seven times and second team all conference eight times. She was also a four time NCAA national championship qualifier.
While at UWL, Fink was a College Swim Coaches Association Academic All American and was the recipient of two research grants. The first was to study body image in elementary school children (3rd-5th grades) and a second to study the muscle biopsies of sprinters and "fast twitch" athletes. She was also a member of the Division III NCAA National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) where she was the student-athlete representative for the NCAA Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee. Fink was also heavily involved in campus government, including serving on the UWL Student Senate for three years and Appropriations Committee for three years, including two years as chairperson.
The Wisconsin native, currently resides in Savoy.
