The Illinois Athletic Department employs a Game Day Staff made up of Ticket Takers, Ushers and Parking Attendants to help serve the general public at Illinois Football games. A fan's experience at Illinois Football games is based as much on the quality of customer service that is provided at Memorial Stadium as it is on our team's performance. As a member of the Illinois Game Day Staff, you play a key role in our fans' impression of the Illinois athletic experience. You are part of a team working together to create a positive atmosphere and an enjoyable experience for all guests.
Ticket Takers are responsible for setting up entry points, greeting patrons as they enter the facility, checking patrons for prohibited items, taking tickets from patrons as they enter the facility, and serving as Guest Services for fans who approach them with questions. The hourly rate for Ticket Takers is $8.25.
Ushers are responsible for assisting patrons to their respective seats either physically or with directions. Additionally, ushers are responsible for assisting with crowd control. They must ensure that patrons are having a safe, positive, and memorable experience. The hourly rate for Ushers is $8.25.
Parking Attendants are responsible for ensuring that all patrons who are parking on game day do so in an orderly and space-efficient manner. Parking Attendants will also be responsible for checking that the appropriate parking passes are being used in each lot and that all patrons are following the guidelines set forth by the Illinois Athletic Department. The hourly rate for Parking Attendants is $10.00.
Full time University of Illinois employees are not eligible to apply for these positions.
Game Day Staff will be expected to possess the following qualities and must be attentive at all times while on duty.
Providing an eagerness to please and willingness to help are the foundation to creating a friendly environment for the customers. You are working for a major college athletic program. Be proud of your position and demonstrate it by your positive attitude.
Knowledge of the Environment
Using the tools and training materials provided to assist patrons will allow the customers to feel relaxed and comfortable. People are less anxious when they know what is happening around them.
Respect for Others
Always treat others the way you wish to be treated and remember to understand the circumstance and perspective of the customer before making judgments or decisions.
Anticipation of Situation
Pay attention to the details of your surroundings and foresee the needs of guests before they even come to you.
