Academic Counselor

Anthony Binion joined the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics staff in 2012, serving as the academic counselor for the women's basketball, women's track and field, women's cross country and men's gymnastics teams. He also oversees the Identify Illinois Program, which is the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics' diversity initiative aimed at exposing students of color to the many campus opportunities to support Illinois athletics.

Prior to joining the Illini staff, Anthony was the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success at Drake University where he oversaw the academic progress of all Bulldog athletic teams, coordinated the athletics Tutor Program, and served as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

A native of Chicago, Ill., Binion earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Truman State in 2003 while participating as a student-athlete on the football team. He earned a master's degree in counseling from Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2005 and a master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern in 2011.
