SAAC Selects Three Charity Beneficiaries For 2011 Jock Jams

    Oct. 25, 2010

The University of Illinois Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 2nd annual student-athlete talent show, Jock Jams tentatively scheduled for the end of February 2011.

The talent show will be benefitting three charities this year. The international charity will be Student Athletes Leading Social Change, the national charity will be Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the local charity will be Salt & Light.

The SAAC representatives from each varsity sport voted to support these three charities for this year's Jock Jams. They believe that it is important to not only look at charities in need on an international scale but also on a national level and within our own community.

The student-athletes at the University of Illinois truly believe that they are bigger than just the average student-athlete. This year they are trying to have a closer relationship with their local community, and would love to create a bond that will last for years to come. This event will be a great night for the campus and community to see Illini student-athletes step out of their comfort zone in their sports to perform to raise money for three worthy causes.

SAAC will be fundraising through ticket sales as well as donations. They are working to make Jock Jams a community-wide event that all of Champaign-Urbana can enjoy. Jock Jams will be held in the gymnasium of Huff Hall on the U of I campus. Be on the lookout for updates and sneak peeks of what to expect at this year's show.
