Workers are busy laying roofing panels and building exterior walls at the Irwin indoor football practice facility located just northeast of Memorial Stadium on the UI campus. The building is scheduled to be completed in November to enable the Fighting Illini to conduct late-season and/or Bowl game practice sessions away from the elements.

Construction is going full tilt at the Eichelberger softball complex on the University of Illinois campus. Coach Terri Sullivan's second Fighting Illini women's fastpitch softball team will begin play there in the spring. The 2001 season will also mark the beginning of Big Ten competition for the Orange and Blue.
