CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini Orange and Blue will mix with Cubs Blue and Cardinal Red when the University of Illinois hosts its Illini Day at Wrigley Field on Friday, May 2, when the Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals with a 1:20 pm start. The first 10,000 fans entering the ballpark that day will receive a special Red Grange bobblehead.

The Cubs chose to commemorate Grange's three-touchdown performance vs. the Northwestern Wildcats at Cubs Park Oct. 27, 1923 as a key moment in the 1920s decade. Following an epic career at Illinois, Grange began his professional career with the Chicago Bears by playing his first pro game at Wrigley Field. Several Red Grange items will be on display inside the concourse at Wrigley Field that day. Fighting Illini representatives will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and conduct the seventh-inning stretch.

The Chicago I FUND will host an exclusive Rooftop Party at Down the Line Rooftop with UI Director of Athletics Mike Thomas, Fighting Illini football coach Tim Beckman, additional Illini staff members and several former and current Fighting Illini players. Tickets are $110 each and include all food and beverages. To order tickets to the Rooftop Party for Illini Day at Wrigley Field, complete the online registration.

Illini Day at Wrigley Field will be part of the Chicago stop for the Fighting Illini Caravan. All Illini fans are encouraged to join the Caravan festivities at the conclusion of the Cubs game at Hubbard Inn (110 W Hubbard St., Chicago) from 5:30-7:30 pm. Fans can register here.
