More Than 300 SFC Premium Seating Donors to be Recognized
Feb. 24, 2014
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois Office of Athletic Development will recognize a number of donors who have pledged their support to State Farm Center (SFC) premium seating at the men's basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 26. In February 2013, Fighting Illini Athletics announced SFC premium-seating options which included more than 1,200 premium Club and Loge seats. Donors have been asked to make campaign gift contributions and premium-seating ticket commitments.

"The response has been terrific," said Bobbi Busboom, Director of Fighting Illini Premium Seating. "We are so appreciative of the generous folks who have committed to SFC premium seating. These seating options will offer first -class amenities along with awesome game viewing. We've been amazed by the overall positive response we've had and we are delighted to have a chance to recognize these patrons."
Each premium seating donor has agreed to make a $3,000 campaign gift towards each seat. To date, these accumulated gifts total more than $2.5 million. These funds will be used towards general construction and renovation costs.
"The response has been so enthusiastic that we've had to create a waiting list for our Traditions Club lower level seating," said UI Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. "Not a day goes by that we don't receive multiple inquiries from individuals interested in acquiring seats within the renovated State Farm Center. The fans who have pledged their support thus far deserve to be honored and recognized."
The significant pledge activity for SFC has mirrored the donor response to the Illinois Renaissance of Memorial Stadium just a few years ago. Fan support then and now has been overwhelmingly positive.
"What we plan to do at SFC will be similar to what we've done at Memorial Stadium; provide exceptional service and memorable experiences," said Senior Associate Director Rick Darnell. "The contributions made towards premium seating at SFC thus far have helped us make progress in reaching our current campaign goals. It's great to have such supportive and loyal fans. As sales continue to increase, the Office of Athletic Development would encourage individuals and private companies to consider purchasing premium-seating tickets while supplies remain."
Illinois Premium Seating began in 2008 with the $121 million renovation of historic Memorial Stadium. Once the renovation of SFC is complete, Illinois Premium Seating will offer a similar exclusive experience which football fans have come to enjoy in the Colonnades Club, 77 Club, and Memorial Stadium Suites. Annual license fees for premium seating are largely tax-deductible and include the season-ticket cost. Through participation in this program, alumni and fans are able to share in a first-class experience while concurrently funding the renovations of both of these iconic campus landmarks.
