    Thomas_AD_OSU_0756.jpgDear Alumni, Students and Friends,

As many of you are aware, we recently had to make two incredibly tough decisions regarding our women's and men's basketball programs. I cannot express deeply enough the respect I have for both Jolette Law and Bruce Weber - both were engaged in many community efforts and always represented the University of Illinois in the highest manner. I certainly wish both of them the best in all of their future endeavors.

    MT-Beckman.jpgGreetings Illini Nation!

There's so much going on at the DIA!  I want to fill you in and update you on different areas of our athletic department.

First of all, a big thanks to those fans who came out from near and far to cheer the Illini to victory in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.  I've been to several bowls over the years and this one was certainly well done - a great time was had by all.  San Francisco is an amazing city and we were happy our student-athletes were able to experience it.

    Dear Alumni, Students and Friends,

I thank you for your support of Fighting Illini football during the 2011 regular season. Our team has become bowl-eligible for the second-straight season, making it the first Illinois squad to do so since 1992. I look forward to joining them and our fans at our third bowl game in the last five years. An announcement concerning the exact bowl, date and time that our team will compete will be made in the very near future. As with all the latest news, please check FightingIllini.com.

    Dear Illini Fans,

Email__DSC0658.jpgI want to personally thank each and every one of you who participated in Stripe the Stadium Saturday at Memorial Stadium against Ohio State. Even though the final score didn't turn out the way we wanted, the atmosphere and unique setting created by the alternating Orange and Blue sections were terrific. I spent some time with Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany, and he was very impressed. The participation was so good, that we may plan to make "Stripe the Stadium" an annual event at an Illini home football game. Great job by all!

    AD-Thomas_ArkSt_0104.jpg Illini Fans,

I have officially been on the job a little more than three weeks, and have learned a great deal about this outstanding institution and the athletic and academic traditions that have been built over the decades. The Illini football team is off to a terrific 3-0 start following the win Saturday night over nationally ranked Arizona State in an incredible atmosphere at Memorial Stadium. Our fans should be very proud of the support they showed Coach Zook and our team in that important victory. I hope the energy and enthusiasm continues as we move through what promises to be an exciting season.
