llini Ink - The yearly journal that takes you behind the scenes of the Illinois women's gymnastics team. In this season's eighth edition, freshman Emily Lennon discusses being back on campus during winter break, the next intrasquad, and the start of the season right around the corner.

Hey Illini fans!

Happy New Year!!

Our team is back from the holidays and we all had such a great time at home spending time with our families and friends. Some of us went home to wonderful sunny weather; however, I went home to Canada where there was a lot of snow and cold. It was a nice little break, but we are back and ready to go!

It's winter break for us, so we can enjoy spending lots of time with the whole team because school is done for the time being. That means lots of movie nights! The underclassmen are staying in the upperclassman's apartments during this time since the dorms are closed. It is a lot of fun to stay with our older teammates because we get to experience the apartment life.

We are so ready for the New Year to start because season is finally here! Our second preseason intrasquad is tomorrow, January 3rd.  Intrasquads are really fun because the team is full of spirit and there is lots of loud cheering for everyone.

Our first competition is getting close; it is on January 10th at Michigan State. I am super excited for my first college meet because they look so much fun to be a part of with my great team! I can't wait for our team to get there and show everyone what we can accomplish with all the hard work we have put in so far this year.

That's it for now! Stay tuned for more Illini updates. We hope to see you at our meets this season! I hope you all have a great 2014!
