Each week the Illini in the NFL update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous week. In week 9, Offensive linemen Jeff Allen and Jon Asamoah helped the Chiefs achieve a franchise tying record of 9-0, Pierre Thomas caught a season high 66 receiving yards and Corey Liuget recorded his third game of three-plus tackles this season.
Jeff Allen, OT, Jon Asamoah, OG, Kansas City Chiefs - Allen and Asamoah once again both started in their eighth respective games of the season as the Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 23-13 to tie a franchise record start of 9-0. The former Illini tandem anchored the offensive line and only surrendered one sack.
Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Thomas
had six carries for 24 rushing yards and seven catches on 10 targets for a
season high 66 receiving yards in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Jets. Watch Thomas

Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers - Liuget had an active day recording three tackles along with two pass deflections in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Redskins. Liuget has started in all eight games this season.
Akeem Spence, DT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Spence made his fifth consecutive start, sixth overall, in the Bucs devastating 27-24 overtime loss against the Seahawks. Spence recorded two tackles, his fifth multi-tackle game of the season.
Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New England Patriots - Starting in his seventh game of the season, Hoomanawanui caught one pass for 17 yards in the Pats 55-31 win over the Steelers. Hoomanawanui now has nine catches for 112 yards on the season.
Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Coming off of a bye week, Davis tallied two tackles and a pass deflection in the Colts impressive comeback in Houston, as Indy downed the Texans 27-24.
Hugh Thornton, OL, Indianapolis Colts - Thornton started in his sixth straight game for the Colts, helping Indy move to 6-2 on the year. The offensive line surrendered four sacks while allowing Luck and company to produce 314 total net yards.
Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans - In Mercilus' eighth straight start, he picked up one tackle to bring his season total to 28.
Michael Buchanan, DE, New England Patriots - Buchanan participated in New England's 55-31 rout of Pittsburg but did not find a route onto the stat sheet Sunday. He has two sacks, nine hurries and three quarterback hits on the season.
Glenn Foster, DL, New Orleans Saints - Appeared in his sixth consecutive game of his rookie season. Saints lost to the Jets, 26-20.
Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots - Appeared in Sunday's win but did not record any statistics. Wilson will look for more reps next week after safety Steve Gregory broke his thumb and will be sidelined for a few weeks.
AJ Jenkins, WR, Kansas City Chiefs - Jenkins played a few snaps in the Chiefs 23-13 win over the Bills but did not haul in a catch.
Martez Wilson, LB, Oakland Raiders - Wilson saw his first action as a Raider but did not record any tackles in the Raiders 49-20 loss to the Eagles.
Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets - Cumberland was inactive for Sunday's win over the Saints after the lingering effects of a concussion he suffered in Week 8 kept him from playing.
Tony Pashos, OL, Oakland Raiders - Did not play in week 9 due to a hip injury sustained in week 6 against Kansas City.
Jack Cornell, OL, Oakland Raiders - After being signed off of the practice squad on October 26th, Cornell has not seen action on the field for Oakland. Raiders lost to the Eagles, 49-20.
