Illini in the NFL 2013 - Week 11

Each week the Illini in the NFL update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous week. In week 11, offensive linemen David Diehl, Hugh Thornton and Tony Pashos all helped their teams to victories, while running backs Pierre Thomas and Rashard Mendenhall led their teams to wins as well.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Thomas had another strong week of production for the Saints, rushing 11 times for 49 yards while receiving another 35 yards on five catches (five targets) in the Saints 23-20 win over the 49ers. Through 10 games this season Thomas has 762 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns.

Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Arizona Cardinals - Mendenhall had 13 yards receiving in addition to 14 yards rushing including this 5-yard touchdown, helping the Cardinals improve to 6-4 with a win over Jacksonville. The touchdown was his first since week seven. In addition, Mendenhall garnered 35-of-69 offensive snaps.

Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers - Liuget started in his tenth game of this season and recorded three tackles in the Chargers 20-16 loss to the Dolphins. Liuget now has 27 tackles on the year.

Jeff Allen, OT, Jon Asamoah, OG, Kansas City Chiefs - Allen and Asamoah both started in the Chiefs first loss of the season, coming against the Broncos on Sunday Night. The offensive line allowed three sacks while accumulating 344 total net yards of offense, including 144 on the ground. Watch Allen create a hole for Jamaal Charles on this 35-yard run.

David Diehl, OT, New York Giants - Diehl started at right guard for his sixth consecutive game this season, helping the Giants beat the Packers 27-13. Watch him protect Eli Manning during this 26-yard touchdown pass.

Alan Ball, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars  - Started his ninth game of the season in the Jaguars 27-14 loss to the Cardinals, while recording a season-high 4 pass deflections.

Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Started and recorded four tackles in the Colts 30-27 come from behind win against the Titans last Thursday night.

Hugh Thornton, OL, Indianapolis Colts - Started at left guard for the eighth consecutive game in the Colts 30-27 win over the Titans. Watch him pull around and help Donald Brown get into the end zone.

Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans - Had two tackles in the Texans 23-28 loss to the Oakland Raiders. Mercilus has also started all ten games this season.

Akeem Spence, DT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Had two tackles to help the Buccaneers get their second win of the season, beating the Falcons 41-28. It marked Spence's sixth multi-tackle game of the season.

Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants - Had a monster 53.0-yard average against the Packers, helping the Giants win 27-13. Weatherford's long punt of the day went 61 yards, his second longest punt of the season.

Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots - Had his first two tackles of the season in the Patriots dramatic 24-20 loss to the Panthers.

Tony Pashos, OL, Oakland Raiders - Started in his first game back from injury, helping the Raiders offense rush for 165 yards. Watch him help pave the way for this 80-yard touchdown run.

Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New England Patriots - Had one reception for two yards as the Patriots fell to the Panthers, 24-20. Hoomanawanui now has 10 total receptions on the year.

Glenn Foster, DL, New Orleans Saints - Foster played but recorded no statistics in the Saints 23-20 last second win over the 49ers.

Martez Wilson, LB, Oakland Raiders - Played, but recorded no statistics in the Raiders 28-23 win over the Texans.

AJ Jenkins, WR, Kansas City Chiefs - Inactive

Mikel Leshoure, RB, Detroit Lions - Inactive

Michael Buchanan, DE, New England Patriots - Inactive

Former Illini on Injured Reserve

Arrelious Benn, WR, Philadelphia Eagles - Out for season with torn left ACL suffered during training camp.

Kelvin Hayden, CB, Chicago Bears - Out for season with a torn left hamstring suffered in early August.

Graham Pocic, OL, St. Louis Rams - Out for season is injury suffered during training camp.
