Each week the Illini in the NFL update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous week. In week 10, Pierre Thomas of the New Orleans Saints had a big game Sunday night against Dallas, scoring twice in the Saints big win, while Alan Ball and Akeem Spence helped the Jaguars and Buccaneers, respectively, earn their first wins of the season.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Thomas had a monster week, playing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Thomas had 111 all-purpose yards, 87 of them coming on the ground. He found the end zone twice, once on a one-yard run and again on a one-yard reception, aiding in the Saints 49-17 rout over the Cowboys.

Glenn Foster, DL, New Orleans Saints - Foster continued his strong play this season Sunday in the Saints win over the Cowboys, tallying a sack and making the first pass deflection of his career. So far this season, the rookie has three sacks for the NFC South leading Saints. 

Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Arizona Cardinals - Mendenhall rushed for 42 yards on 13 carries in addition to catching a nine-yard pass in the Cardinals 27-24 victory over the Houston Texans. Furthermore, Mendenhall took 26 of the Cardinals' 66 offensive snaps.

Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers - Started his ninth game of the season at defensive end for San Diego in their 28-20 loss against the Denver Broncos. Liuget notched two tackles in the Chargers losing effort. Liuget has now recorded multi-tackle games in all but one contest this fall.

David Diehl, OT, New York Giants - Diehl started his fifth consecutive game Sunday and helped lead the Giants to a 24-20 win over the Raiders. Watch Diehl open a hole for Andre Brown on this 17-yard run.

Alan Ball, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars  - Ball started his eighth game of the year Sunday in the Jaguars first win of the season. Individually, Ball made three tackles and two pass deflections, while helping hold the Titans to under 300 yards passing.

Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Started his ninth game of the season Sunday as the Colts fell to the Rams 38-8. Davis recorded two tackles and a pass deflection to bring his season total of deflections up to seven.

Hugh Thornton, OL, Indianapolis Colts - Protected Andrew Luck and helped the Colts passing game rack up 388 yards through the air. Thornton has now started seven consecutive games and has played in all nine.

Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans - Mercilus recorded one tackle in the Texans 24-27 loss to the Arizona Cardinals while making his ninth consecutive start on the Texans defensive front. Mercilus has recorded at least one tackle in every game this season.

Akeem Spence, DT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - In the first Monday Night Football game of his career, Spence had one tackle in the Bucs 22-19 win over the Miami Dolphins. Spence has started seven of the Bucs nine games, including six straight starts.

Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants - Weatherford punted only three times (30.3 avg) Sunday in the Giants win over the Raiders, including a long of 51 yards.

Martez Wilson, LB, Oakland Raiders - Wilson played in his sixth game of the season, second with Raiders, but recorded no statistics.

Jack Cornell, OL, Oakland Raiders - Cornell was once again resigned off the practice squad onto the active roster on Sunday after multiple injuries to Oakland's offensive life.

Tony Pashos, OL, Oakland Raiders - Inactive due to hip injury

Mikel Leshoure, RB, Detroit Lions - Inactive
