Hi Illini fans!!
Another top 3 finish came this weekend at the Hoosier Fall Invitational in Indiana! We've been spoiled and blessed with beautiful weather the past few tournaments, but this time Indiana decided to give us a taste of the chilly fall weather we all know and love. We started our first round in the 45 degree blowing rain but that slowly turned into a breezy 60 degree day! We were patient and fought through the first few hours, and then we started to make strides once the sun came out. Not all second rounds were completed due to darkness, so play resumed the following morning. Jackie Calamaro and myself were the only ones on our team who had to finish one last hole to start day two. After completing the second rounds, we immediately started the final round. Due to suspended play and lack of time there was no re-pairing of groups or change of the hole locations. We knew how the course was going to be set up and the game plan was to go out and go low. With a final score of 884 the team took home 2nd place and more hardware for the trophy case! Also, Ember Schuldt had a solid score of 215 for a 3rd place finish! A big thanks to Indiana for putting together such a great event!
We had a great time at this tournament! We enjoyed a nice dinner with the Calamaro family at UNOs pizza the first night and a lovely pasta buffet provided by the golf course the second night. Not to mention the delicious monster cookies made by Mrs. Calamaro and the Halloween themed sugar cookies made by Ember's mom Lou Lou...Nestle Tollhouse has nothing on these ladies. The links style Hickory Stick Golf Club was a course that provided plenty of challenges that were overcome by the team. We've learned a lot and gained more experience from this tournament and are ready to put forth extra effort this week as we prepare to head off to Kiawah Island this weekend!
