Hello Illini fans!

The team is back on campus and catching up on classwork after a great tournament this past weekend in Minnesota.  We played in the Minnesota Invitational at The Minikahda Club outside of Minneapolis.  On our way to the tournament, the team got to spend a night in Ember's hometown of Sterling, Illinois.  We met up with Ember's family and ate dinner at Kelly's, a favorite restaurant in town.  Tons of people came up to our table to say hi to Ember and to wish the team luck; the support for Ember and the team was incredible!  After dinner, we headed to Aunt Betty's house where Ember's mom Lou Lou outdid herself with an amazing dessert bar.  The choices included cookies, apple tart, chocolate ├ęclair cake, and pineapple dessert.

The next morning, Lou Lou was at it again and made us a delicious breakfast complete with homemade cinnamon rolls.  After breakfast, we headed to Emerald Hill golf course, the place where Ember practiced back in high school.  CJ, her old high school coach, set us up to play nine holes, and then we practiced before making the rest of the drive to Minnesota.  Thank you to everyone who made our time in Sterling special!

The Minikahda Club demands accurate placement, so the team took full advantage during the practice round to pick our lines and targets.  Our work during the practice round helped tremendously during the competitive rounds.   I saw lots of diligent and thorough work during practice, and it showed during rounds one and two.  We all enjoyed playing such a spectacular course.  The tournament organizers did a great job setting everything up from the dinners we had after our rounds to making our starts in the morning run smoothly.  We owe a big thank-you to Minnesota for hosting such a wonderful event!

The team took away many positives from this tournament, but we also have many things to work on in preparation for our next one.  We will be working hard for the next few weeks and are excited to get back out on the course.  Until next time, Illini Nation!
