Hey Illini Fans!
As many of you probably know we just recently competed in the Big Ten Championship at French Lick Resort. Competing for Illinois at our conference tournament is truly an experience of a lifetime and one that I especially cherished this being my senior year. The resort is incredibly nice, however we all learned it's best to stick with a teammate as it's pretty easy to get lost. We started off the weekend with a practice round at The Donald Ross Course which is an amazing test of golf. The course is very hilly with thick rough and challenging greens. That night we enjoyed a banquet hosted by the French Lick Resort and Big Ten for all the teams including keynote speaker Holly Sonders.
The first round of Big Ten's wasn't our best, however we were right in the thick of things, only eight strokes out of fifth, which was our season goal. We struggled in the final two rounds, however, and did not have the results or finish we were looking for. Although disappointing, every player learned a lot about their game and what needs to be worked on and changed for this upcoming season. As our coach stated, "Sometimes you have to take a step back before you can take five steps forward." Our season was a challenge and a learning experience, but ultimately it was a motivator. We have great pride in the University of Illinois and every one of us is ready and excited to show who we are and what we stand for both as golfers and as people.
We would like to thank all our fans that made the trip out to French Lick to watch and support us or that have followed us this season. It's always amazing to see Orange and Blue! Also, a special shout out to Maria Woods, our Senior Women's Administrator, who spent the entire weekend with us.
As a senior this will be my final Chip Shots. This was the experience of a lifetime thanks to my coaches, teammates, all the Illinois support staff, and all those who follow and support our program. I'm sad to leave, but excited to take on the role of supporter and see this talented group reach their goals!
