Hey there Illini fans,

Hope you are all enjoying the start of  Spring. I know our team did over this past week in Georgia! We may not have played to our best ability at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, but we still had a fun trip and worked hard on golf at the same time. A highlight from the tournament was Ember Schuldt placing ninth with 75- 73-74.  The course, Forest Hills Golf Club, played challenging for all with extremely fast greens and a lot of undulation, so Ember's scores were very respectable. She is definitely feeling great about her game right now, and the rest of us are going to work hard in the upcoming two weeks so we feel great about our game too as the season is coming to a close.

In addition to the golf at Forest Hills Golf Club, we had a dinner one night with a down to earth host family who lives near the club. For our team and the East Tennessee State golf team, they made a Brie pastry, salad, pork, chicken, squash casserole, as well as delicious peanut butter and key lime pies for afterwards. Needless to say, we were well fed and happy as could be going into the final round after that meal.  The only meal I could say came close to topping it was Southern Soul, a barbeque restaurant on Sea Island, Georgia. I definitely recommend it to all of you who one day find yourself in the area!

We were lucky enough this trip to have a couple days after the tournament to spend in Brunswick and Sea Island, Georgia with it being Spring Break. Other than enjoying a couple of great restaurants, we did a lot of sight seeing and golf practice there as well. One day we practiced at the King and Prince Golf Club while the next day we played 18 holes at Frederica Golf Club. Frederica was in absolutely beautiful shape and was a treat for us to play. We even got to meet tour pro Jonathon Byrd, one of the 12 tour pros who are members there. After golf each day, we had time to sightsee on the island- like the avenue of Oaks, gardens, plantations, etc., as well as go shopping, walk along the beach, and see the Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D!! Our days may have been filled with things to do, but everything on our agenda added to making Georgia an awesome Spring Break trip.

The last leg of our trip was going to Cobblestone Park Golf Club, the University of South Carolina's home course, to practice and play nine for a day. The golf course was EXTREMELY hilly and great preparation for what to expect in French Lick, Ind., for Big Ten's. Actually, the trip as a whole was great preparation for Big Ten's, as well as for our two tournaments before it. We are all excited, though, to head back to Champaign for a couple of weeks so we will be ready to compete in Jacksonville, Fla., and show other teams there what we Fighting Illini are made of J

Thanks again for your support. We wish you all a happy Easter and wonderful week.
