Each week the Illini in the NFL update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous weeks. Three Illini were in action during last weekend's wildcard round, Vontae Davis of the Colts, and Alan Ball and Whitney Mercilus of the Texans, while six will be in action this weekend during the divisional round.  

Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Started at corner and had three passes defended, but the Colts surprise season ended with a 24-9 loss at Baltimore.

Alan Ball, CB, Houston Texans - After missing the final five weeks of the regular season due to injury, Ball returned to action in the playoffs and recorded three tackles in the Texans 19-13 win over Cincinnati. Houston will travel to New England to face the Patriots on Sunday at 3:30 pm CT in the Divisional Round.  

Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans - Rookie saw his first career playoff action but did not record any stats in the Texans 19-13 win over the Bengals. Houston will travel to New England to face the Patriots on Sunday at 3:30 pm CT in the Divisional Round.  

Brandon Lloyd, WR, New England Patriots - The Patriots had a first round bye and will host the Texans in the divisional round on Sunday at 3:30 pm CT.

Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots - The Patriots had a first round bye and will host the Texans in the divisional round on Sunday at 3:30 pm CT.

Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New England Patriots - The Patriots had a first round bye and will host the Texans in the divisional round on Sunday at 3:30 pm CT.

AJ Jenkins, WR, San Francisco 49ers - The 49ers had a first round bye and will host the Packers in the divisional round on Saturday at 7 pm CT.
