Each week the Illini in the NFL update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous week. Mikel Leshoure has now produced five touchdowns over the previous four games while Whitney Mercilus enjoyed a career high four tackle day in a thrilling Thanksgiving overtime win against Detroit.

Mikel Leshoure, RB, Detroit Lions - Leshoure had 12 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown Sunday in the 34-31 loss to the Texans. Leshoure now has five touchdowns in the last four games. Leshoure's longest run of the day was a 12-yarder. Watch Leshoure's TD Run


Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans - Mercilus recorded a career high four tackles in the Texans 34-31 OT win over the Lions, bringing his rookie season total to 17.

Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets - Cumberland tied his season high of four receptions while posting a new season high of 58 yards on Thanksgiving night. Jets lost to the Patriots 49-19.

Brandon Lloyd, WR, New England Patriots - Lloyd caught three passes for 26 yards in Thursday's 49-19 win over the Jets. Lloyd was on the field for 62-of-68 snaps on offense in Thursday's win.

Brandon Moore, OG, New York Jets - Moore made his 132nd consecutive career start, fourth most amongst all active players. Moore and the offensive line of the Jets helped produced 420 total yards, including 119 on the ground. In addition, the O-line allowed two sacks.

Alan Ball, CB, Houston Texans - Produced a season high seven tackles, and one pass deflection in the Texans thrilling 34-31 overtime win against the Lions on Thanksgiving. Ball now has 20 tackles on the year.

Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers - Liuget posted six tackles in the Chargers 16-13 loss to the Ravens, bringing his season total to 31. Liuget has started all 11 games in his sophomore season.

Josh Brent, DT, Dallas Cowboys - Brent tallied one assisted tackle and three solo tackles in the Cowboys 38-31 loss vs. the Redskins. Brent now has 20 tackles on the year. 

Jeff Allen, OT, Kansas City Chiefs - Starting in his eighth consecutive game, Allen and the offensive line powered the Chiefs to 148 rushing yards, while only succumbing to two sacks. Chiefs lost 17-9 to the Broncos.

Kelvin Hayden, CB, Chicago Bears - Recorded four tackles as the Bears defeated the Vikings 28-10. Hayden has 20 tackles on the season.

Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots - Wilson recorded one assisted tackle in the Patriots' 49-19 win over the New York Jets.

Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers - Starting in his second straight game after missing four games due to injury, Mendenhall ran for just 6 yards on 4 carries in Sunday's 20-14 loss to Cleveland.

David Diehl, OT, New York Giants - Started in his third consecutive game on the offensive line since returning from injury. Helped the Giants secure 390 total yards of offense, including 147 on the ground. Giants downed the Packers 38-10.

Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants - Punted three times for an average of 45.0 yards per kick in the Giants 38-10 win over the Packers. Weatherford pinned the Packers inside their own 20 once.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Thomas had one carry for no yards in the Saints 31-21 loss to the 49ers.

Martez Wilson, LB, New Orleans Saints - Wilson recorded no statistics in the 31-21 loss to the 49ers.

Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New England Patriots - Played but didn't record a stat in the Patriots 49-19 win over the Jets. 

Jon Asamoah, OG, Kansas City Chiefs - Asamoah underwent thumb surgery two weeks ago and as a result did not play in Sunday's game. Chiefs lost 17-9 to the Broncos.

Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Inactive again for Sunday's game due to left knee injury. Colts beat the Bills 20-13.

AJ Jenkins, WR, San Francisco 49ers - Did not play in the 49ers 32-21 win over the Saints.

Arrelious Benn, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Benn has been placed on the Injured Reserve list due to shoulder problems. The Buccaneers lost 24-23 to the Falcons.
