Each week the Illini in the NFL update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous week. David Diehl returned from injury to anchor the Giants offensive line, while Mikel Leshoure and Brandon Lloyd both had productive days during Week 6.
Mikel Leshoure, RB, Detroit Lions - Leshoure carried 15 times for 70 yards and caught three passes for 24 yards in a 26-23 winning effort over the Eagles.
Brandon Lloyd, WR, New England Patriots - Lloyd caught six passes for 80 yards in Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Seahawks. Lloyd saw a team-high 82-of-87 snaps on offense
David Diehl, OT, New York Giants - Saw his first action since week 2 after suffering a knee injury, helping the Giants win 26-3 over the 49ers. Diehl, along with the Giant's offensive line, did not allow a sack on the day.
Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants - Punted four times for an average of 49.8 yards with a long of 59 yards in the win over San Francisco. Two of Weatherford's punts pinned the 49ers inside their own 20 yard line. Also held for all four of Lawrence Tynes' field goals.
Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers - Prior to hurting his Achilles in the game Thursday, Mendenhall carried six times for six yards and caught one pass for 11 yards. The injury is believed to be minor and he has a good shot to play this coming Sunday against the Bengals.
Brandon Moore, OG, New York Jets - Started in his 127th consecutive game, in the Jets' 35-9 win over the Colts. Helped power the running game to an impressive 252 total yards.
Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots - Tallied one solo tackle and one pass deflection in the Patriots 24-23 loss to the Seahawks. Now has 22 tackles on the year along with four pass deflections.
Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers - Had a season high three tackles, including one solo. Chargers lost 35-24 to the Broncos on Monday Night Football.
Brit Miller, FB, St. Louis Rams - Miller helped the Rams running game rush for 162 yards against the number one rush defense in the league, yet the Rams lost to the Dolphins 17-14.
Jon Asamoah, OG, Kansas City Chiefs - Started in all six games for the Chiefs this season. Asamoah and the rest of the offensive line did not surrender a single sack in the Chiefs' 38-10 loss to the Buccaneers.
Jeff Allen, OT, Kansas City Chiefs - Made his third straight start alongside Jon Asamoah. Helped the Chiefs tally 260 total yards of offense.
Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans - Played in his sixth straight game for the Texans and recorded one tackle in a 42-24 loss to the Packers.
Arrelious Benn, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Returned two kickoffs for an average of 18 yards and a long of 23.
Alan Ball, CB, Houston Texans - Tallied one tackle in the Texans 42-24 loss to the Packers.
Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets - Started in the Jets 35-9 win over the Colts but did not record a catch in the contest.
Josh Brent, DT, Dallas Cowboys - Played but did not record in a statistic in the Cowboys 31-29 loss to the Ravens.
Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New England Patriots - Did not play in the Patriots 24-23 loss to the Seahawks.
Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Did not play in Sunday's game due to a nagging ankle injury. Colts lost to the Jets 35-9.
AJ Jenkins, WR, San Francisco 49ers - Did not play in the 49ers 34-0 win over the Jets.
Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Did not play due to Saints bye week.
